Working Out The Faith: Deut. 6:24

"And the Lord commanded us to do all these statutes, to fear the Lord our God, for our good always, that he might preserve us alive, as we are this day." ESV

Obedience to the LORD's commandments and a commitment to His reverent worship is for our good. We are recipients of no better good from this world.

Working Out The Faith: Deut. 4: 6-8

"Keep them and do them, for that will be your wisdom and your understanding in the sight of the peoples, who, when they hear all these statutes, will say, ‘Surely this great nation is a wise and understanding people.’ 7 For what great nation is there that has a god so near to it as the Lord our God is to us, whenever we call upon him? 8 And what great nation is there, that has statutes and rules so righteous as all this law that I set before you today?" (ESV)

When God's people are diligent in living out the commandments of God their actions will be their wisdom and understanding in the sight of surrounding culture. When the surrounding culture hears of these commandments and they see them being lived out they will see God's people as having wisdom and understanding because they will see that with godly living there is blessing.

Reading Scripture for a Biblical Worldview: Psalm 115:8

"Those who make them (idols) are just like them, as are all those who trust in them." HCSB

It only makes sense that humanity will become like their degenerate and depraved idols because these idols are created in the image of their degenerate and depraved human creators. In addition, those who trust in and worship such idols will reflect the image of their idolatrous creation. Our postmodern Church and culture are marked by the blemishes of a consistent pursuit of idolatrous image bearing.

Great Quotes: Augustine

This is one statement by Augustine concerning God's divine providence:

"God is the unchanging conductor as well as the unchanged creator of all things that change. When he adds, abolishes, curtails, increases, or diminishes the rites of any age, he is ordering all events according to his providence. This will hold good until the beauty of the completed course of time--whose parts are the dispensations suitable to each different period--shall have played itself out, like the great melody of some ineffable composer."
